Brihaspatians Visit Balmandir

Learning with Purpose – Grade 6 Students Give Back

Education extends beyond textbooks and classrooms, and our Grade 6 students demonstrated this through their recent visit to Bal Mandir. As part of their Project-Based Learning (PBL) activity, they not only explored concepts of measurements, the unitary method, and profit and loss but also applied their learning to a real-world scenario.

After generating profit through their project, the students made a conscious decision to reinvest their earnings into something meaningful – purchasing and donating stationery items to the children at Bal Mandir. This initiative was more than an academic exercise; it was an opportunity to develop financial literacy, teamwork, and a strong sense of social responsibility.

Witnessing their enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference was a reminder that learning is most impactful when it is connected to real-life experiences. Through this initiative, they not only strengthened their understanding of key mathematical concepts but also experienced the value of empathy and giving back to the community.

Exploring History and Heritage – A Journey Through Bhaktapur Durbar Square

Stepping beyond the classroom, our Junior School students embarked on an enriching educational journey to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, immersing themselves in the cultural and architectural marvels of one of Nepal’s most treasured heritage sites.

As they wandered through Nyatapol and Dattatreya Squares, they encountered centuries-old temples, intricate wood carvings, and traditional courtyards that have stood as symbols of Nepalese craftsmanship and devotion. Their visit to Pottery Square offered a hands-on glimpse into the artistry of local potters, where they observed the meticulous process of shaping clay into beautifully crafted pottery – a skill passed down through generations.

Beyond simply observing, students engaged in meaningful discussions about history, culture, and the importance of heritage conservation. This immersive experience allowed them to connect with their lessons in a tangible way, fostering a deeper appreciation for Nepal’s rich legacy.

A truly inspiring day of learning, this field visit encouraged curiosity, reflection, and a sense of pride in our shared history – reinforcing that some of the most valuable lessons happen outside the four walls of a classroom.
